Surviving the Festivals with Flair
It’s Festival Season. Don’t leave home without some forward planning for your beauty essentials. Savvy Rock-chicks bring their own survival kit.
Everyone wants to look their best while sleeping in an overgrown wet field and queuing for the overblown and wet portaloos. You have to look amazing for those inevitable Instagram pics of you rocking it out in a muddy mosh pit. Facebook will be lighting up with vids of your crowd surfing and body popping. It might be good to not look as if you were dragged through a hedge backwards (even if that was the most fun of the weekend!). With a little preparation and thought, you can continue to be your fabulous self, despite the continuous downpours from the sky and from that 2litre wine box. Here are some of our suggestions to help you remain on fleek at this year’s Festivals.
Bumper pack of wipes: For use in all kinds of situations. Removing makeup, wiping up spills, cleaning down surfaces, grime removal. A pack of wipes is crucial for life under canvas.
Luscious Lips: Keep your lips smooth and voluptuous by applying a good lip balm. Wind and sun (yes, sometimes there is sun!) can take a toll on your beautiful pout and as you don’t know when the opportunity to ‘pucker up’ might present itself, you should be lip ready. Nuxe Reve De Miel Lip Balm is an extremely nourishing and repairing fragrance-free balm that contains no preservatives or artificial scents and best of all, has no sticky effect so it is perfect for job. You can also apply it to any dry patches on your body. Tasting of honey and grapefruit, this lip balm is a real lip smacking must for the kit.
Sunscreen: Nothing will age you faster than the sun and nothing will disgrace you faster than a farmer tan from an Irish Festival. Avoid both these scenarios with good sun protection. Wear sunscreen. Use a tinted moisturiser on your face, with a broad spectrum sunscreen (SPF) to keep an even colour and tone, with a sun barrier. A light make up will not feel too heavy and hinder your fun. Elizabeth Arden Pure Finish Tinted Moisturizer
Waterproof mascara: Keep makeup simple. That means mascara is an essential. But, let’s face it, there is a likelihood of showers and a strong likelihood of a water fight. Your mascara should be waterproof. Choose on that is long lasting and delivers a strong colour. Clarins Double Fix Mascara
Deodorant: Ok, just because you are right in the thick of a sweaty bunch of festival goers does not mean you need go whiffy too. These days, the discerning rock chick does not spray a generic mist of something sharp and stinging under her oxters before heading out to rave. Oh No, the new deodorants are a much more sophisticated product. Deodorant sticks are the cool way to go for festival chic. Choose one with a classy scent to enhance the experience and remain chilled and fragrant in the melee
Eye Care: The eyes can often show the first signs of fatigue. Lift and enliven tired –looking eyes with a good gel or serum. This is most needed when packing up your tent and heading back to the office. That post festival look is a badge of honour, but you still want to look good until you can catch up on lost sleep. Dry Shampoo: In the absence of an on-site hairdresser or usable showers, a good dry shampoo will absorb oil, give your hair more body and keep it festival fragrant.
Don’t forget the plasters, paracetamol, rehydration sachets, toothbrush, mouthwash, eye mask, ear plugs , hand sanitiser, tissues, toilet seat covers, toilet rolls… the tent, the sleeping bag, the glow sticks and the festival wellies. Have fun. Keep safe and Look awesome!
