Skin Care Tips for Young Skin
Lancôme has launched a fresh new product in Ireland, and we are very excited to have it in stock!! The Energie De Vie range has been specifically formulated with young skin in mind. It aims to relieve dullness and give your skin a daily energy recharge!
The announcement of the launch got us thinking about what are the important elements of your skin care routine when you are in your 20’s. These days, people are starting to think about anti-aging at a much younger age. And while there are some aspects of the anti-aging process that can be started in your 20’s, there are a number of other factors to keep in mind that are also essential for young skin and starting the prevention process for the first signs of aging.
We did some research and also spoke to our customers and staff, and these are the top tips we have put together for the skincare routines of those in their 20’s.
1) Exfoliating
While exfoliating is important, be aware that you need to be careful not to overdo it! When you are in your 20’s, your skin cells are still adept at renewing themselves. Therefore using a product too often that simulates cell renewal by exfoliation, can be too aggressive on young skin. It can damage your skins natural barrier and cause irritation. The time to increase exfoliation is when you are in your 30’s and your skin’s ability to regenerate starts to slow down.
While in your 20’s, it is recommended that you exfoliate about twice a week. We recommend the Lancome Exfoliance Clarte with Papaya and Pineapple extracts for normal and combination skin types.
2) Eye Care
Around your eyes is where wrinkles will start to appear first, because the skin is thinner here. So this is one area that we definitely recommend you start your anti-aging routine when you are in your 20’s. A moisturising eye cream will help to slow down the appearance of crow’s feet. We love the Nuxe Contour Des Yeux Prodigieux to moisturise, re-energise and start the anti-aging process.
3) Daily Habits
Much of your daily routine and habits can also contribute to the health of your skin….it is up to you to ensure that they contribute in a positive rather than a negative way! Here are some of the most essential tips:
i) Don’t sleep with your makeup on! Don’t worry…we’ve all done it! It’s easily done when you’re in your 20’s and coming home after a long night on the dance floor! The important thing is to make sure that it doesn’t become a habit, and only happens once in a blue moon, if at all.
Leaving your eye makeup on can result in dry, red eyes that are very irritated. Furthermore, your pores being clogged while you sleep can definitely result in a breakout…something we hope we never have to deal with once we pass the teenage years! Leaving your lipstick on too long can also lead to dry, chapped lips…definitely not a look we want!
ii) Stock up on foods with antioxidants. Antioxidants are the king of anti-aging products, and they can also be found naturally! Some foods that contain this super formula include blackberries, blueberries, walnuts, cranberries, pecans, raisins, grapes, kale and spinach.
iii) Finally, two of the most important daily habits (which should come as no surprise to anyone) are avoiding smoking and drinking as much water as possible!
