Valentines Day Makeup Looks
Ladies! Valentines Day is rapidly approaching! So, do you have an outfit picked out yet? Dress? Shoes? Bag? Accessories?
Depending on what you are going for, there are several makeup looks that you can try (some might take some practice…).We have started a Pinterest Board where we have assembled all of our favorite looks for this Valentines Day, go take a look and give us a wee follow 🙂
Follow Magees Pharmacy’s board Valentines Day Makeup Ideas! on Pinterest.
We think there are several options:
- The classic cat eye, nude lip (very 60’s!)
- The cat eye, bold lip (vamp, red, bright)
- The smokey eye, nude lip
- The natural, dewy skin lookÂ
CLASSIC CAT EYE + NUDE LIP
You can NEVER go wrong with this. The classic cat eye is so flattering, and flirty. Perfect for the occasion!
The cat eye can be achieved a few different ways: liquid liner, or smudged crayon and eyeshadow using an angled brush:
Try a Kylie Jenner-style nude lip with the mix for a very 60’s look, and some sparkle on the lids for extra playfulness. A nice touch to open and brighten the eyes is a hint of white pencil in the inner-rims. Don’t be scared of fake lashes! It’s the perfect occasion for them!
We would use:
- Blank Canvas Winging It Eyeliner Pen, €9.99
- Rimmel White Pencil (available in store), €4.69
- A volume effect mascara, like the Lancome Grandiose Mascara, €30
- Clarins Instant Light Lip Balm Perfector in Rosewood, €19
CAT EYE + BOLD LIP
Add some modern POP to your cat eye with a bold lip! Not the best for smooching, but you can always touch up 😉
The eyes are pretty much the same as the first makeup look, but here you have 3 options for lip colour:
- The dark, vampy lip (try Max Factor Colour Elixir Lipstick in Mulberry, €9.99 in store)
- The bright hot pink lip (try NYX Extra Creamy Lipstick in Hot Pink, €5.49 in store)
- The classic red lip (L’Oreal Colour Riche Exclusive Pure Red, €11.99 in store)
Tanya Burr shows us how it’s done!
SMOKEY EYE + NUDE LIP
Or the Kim K look (the girl in the photo looks freakishly like her! Unless… is it actually her with blue contacts??). This is the ultimate sexy, smoldering hot look. These bedroom eyes will take some practice: It’s all about blending the edges with a CLEAN blending brush, to “smoke out” the dark eyeshadow.
Smokey eyes can be achieved using different colours, like purple tones, dark greens, navy blues… As long as you keep the lip neutral.
Didn’t your mom tell you, either dramatic eye or lip, not both?
This is what we would use:
- Your new best friend, the Blank Canvas E26 blending brush, €7. We like the fact that it is white, so that you can see if it is dirty or not. We repeat, CLEAN it before you blend if you don’t want to look like a hot mess rather than just HOT.
- The Lancome Hypnose Eye Artistry Intense DR2, in Mon Smokey, €48. This palette has all the colours you need for this look.
- A volume effect mascara, like the Lancome Grandiose Mascara, €30
- Some glamorous fake lashes, like the Cheryl ones (€5.99 in store). Don’t be scared, just use a tiny bit of glue on the rim, wait 30 seconds for it to get tacky, and use tweezers to apply strip first in the center of the eye, then extend to the corners. EASY!
This Makeup Artist uses a similar Lancome palette:
DEWY SKIN NATURAL LOOK
The “no Makeup” look in our opinion shows how confident you are with yourself, like you don’t need anything fancy to look amazing. This look will show your date another side of you. Some may think this is pretty daring… But this will show off your glowy skin rather than how well you achieved your smokey eye or liquid liner.
The idea here is to create the bronzed “dewy” natural look. This is done by using certain foundations, highlighter and bronzer with a capital B. Just remember how pretty you look in the summer with that natural healthy glow, without wearing anything but moisturiser!
This makeup artist achieves the look perfectly, by mixing liquid highlighter with her liquid foundation, and contouring with bronzer:
We would use:
- Vichy Teint Ideal Illuminating Fluid Foundation SPF20, €22.5
- Clarins Instant Light Concealer Stick, €23
- Blank Canvas F03 Medium Stipple Brush, €14
- Lancome Star Bronzer (available in store) €37
- Clarins Instant Light Radiance Complex Base (it can be used on top of makeup as well) (buy in store) €30
Well that’s all folks! These looks are very versatile, and will assure a dramatic entrance into any room 🙂
Love,
Magees
